Wow! Another week flown by…Besides healing the broken souls of youth (as I dramatically but rather fittingly describe my job as a student therapist) I got some AWESOME mail! I got my copy of New Mobility Magazine with the article by ME on page 39.It’s an article about access to healthcare by women with disabilities called, “The Uphill Push.” Here’s the blurb from the New Mobility site:

e financial concerns, such as unemployment, poverty, and being single that make it more difficult for many to access wellness checkups, prescriptions, eyeglasses, and mental health care - and, of course, insurance is its own peak to be scaled. And for wheelchair users, “Will I even be able to fit my chair through the front door?” is..
Of course I’d already read it somewhere around a million times during the editing process, but it was really nice to see it in print with the awesome illustration they added (more reason for you to subscribe) and the pictures sprinkled in the text of the women I interviewed. One of which being the one and only, Stacey (waving!). If you have a chance to read it, I’d love to know what you think.
As if a publication wasn’t enough to add a little glitter to my week, my mom also sent me some great prints from my visit home where I tried using her ancient but awesome 35mm camera. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to coordinate holding, looking, shooting-but they came out pretty good. Course her’s are better, but that’s to be expected!

To top off my scurrying to and fro the mailbox, Adam and I had an excellent weekend-both productive and relaxing. Among other tasks accomplished today, I baked my infamous Magnolia’s Buttercream cupcakes for Adam to take into work. I hadn’t made them since my own commemoration of ADA Day and I remembered why as I had to VACUUM the powdered sugar/flour from my counters, clothes, body, and floors. I like to think they were worth it though. The light pink icing really amuses me.
